ALLIANCE TO END PLASTIC WASTE
The Alliance is a not-for-profit organization that includes companies from across the global plastics and consumer goods value chain, including chemical and plastic manufacturers, consumer goods companies, retailers, converters, and waste management companies, along with a strategic partnership with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
The Alliance will make investments and drive progress in four key areas: Infrastructure development to collect and manage waste and increase recycling; Innovation to advance and scale new technologies that make recycling and recovering plastics easier and create value from all post-use plastics; Education and engagement of governments, businesses, and communities to mobilize action; and Clean up concentrated areas of plastic waste already in the environment, particularly the major conduits of

ANSE has been working with marine litter and now is going to extend its work to the polluted rivers from south Spain.

GIPUZKOA PROVINCIAL COUNCIL

INSTITUTO TECNOLÓXICO PARA O CONTROL DO MEDIO MARIÑO DE GALICIA - INTECMAR
Set up by law in 2004 as a public institution, INTECMAR is an official tool that belongs to the autonomic administration of Galicia and its aim is to control the quality of the marine environment and the implementation of the regulations as regards the technical and health control of sea products. It also has to take on the responsibilities and duties of the old Centre for the Control of the Marine Environment, from which it also inherit the facilities, inaugurated in 1992. A new building was built to complement the old one and it was finished in 2009.

The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation is devoted to promote sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation through cooperation and shared values and culture. the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation was created in 2000 with the financial support of the Spanish Ministry of Environment and the regional Ministry of Environment in Andalusia, Consejeria de Medio Ambiente (Junta de Andalucia). The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) joined the agreement in 2010. Also the same year, the Centre assumes the implementation of a new IUCN Programme specifically designed for North Africa. KIMO INTERNATIONAL
Fishing for Litter is a voluntary scheme that aims to reduce marine litter by involving one of the key stakeholders, the fishing industry. Fishing boats are given large bags to collect the plastics and other debris that gathers in their nets during normal fishing activities. They can unload the bags of litter at port and the rubbish is removed, recycled or disposed of on land.
LEGAMBIENTE
Legambiente is an Italian non-profit organization founded in 1980. It’s the most prominent and widespread environmental association in Italy with two headquarters in Rome and Milan, 20 regional coordination offices and more than 600 local groups of volunteers.
MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre
MARE is a centre for research, technological development and innovation, with an integrative and holistic approach, concentrating a wide diversity of expertise, skills, and capabilities, with a nationwide territorial implementation, that develops its activities oriented to societal challenges, in close partnership with national and international research centres.
MED CITIES
MedCities was established in 1991 in Barcelona when 16 cities formed a network with the purpose, initially, of supporting environmental protection from a local perspective. In 2015, the network became a fully independent organization and now brings together more than 50 local authorities from all shores of the Mediterranean basin. The transformation of MedCities into a legal association has increased its operational capacity and enhanced its ability to promote urban sustainable development.
MARINE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION DIVISION OF THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection is responsible for the formulation of a nationwide, integrated, and inclusive policy for the protection of the environment. UNEP/MAP
UN Environment – Mediterranean Action Plan, including the Regional Activity Centres: SCP/RAC, REMPEC and MED POL.
